How do you get ice off your windshield?

To get ice off your windshield, start your car and set the defrost to "low" for five minutes. Scrape off the ice using a plastic ice scraper. Using a soft brush, clean off the remaining ice with an alternating sweeping motion.

  1. Turn on the defrost

    Start your car, and turn the defroster and fan to low in order to prevent causing extra stress to the frozen windshield. Leave the defroster on for around five minutes.

  2. Scrape off the ice

    Scrape off the ice using a plastic ice scraper. Use only the edge of the scraper to remove ice as other parts of the scraper may damage the windshield.

  3. Brush off the remaining ice

    Use a soft brush to wipe off the remaining ice in an alternating motion from left to right.
