Is it illegal to drive without a side mirror?

According to EcoModder.com, it is illegal to operate a motor vehicle in the United States if it is not equipped with all required rear-view mirrors. The act of driving without any of the standard mirrors places the driver as well as those around him in danger.
The same laws that require the presence of rear-view mirrors often criminalize a driver for allowing anything to obstruct those mirrors, according to EcoModder.com. The inability of drivers to see around a vehicle could result in collisions, vehicle damage, personal injury or death. Obstructed views are not considered a felony in any state but constitutes a misdemeanor in many.
