Lake Superior, Lake of the Woods and Mille Lacs are some important lakes in the state of Minnesota. Some of the lakes share their shorelines with other countries.
Lake Superior accounts for a large amount of recreation and tourism use in Minnesota as well as providing a big commercial fishery. Duluth is one of Americas busiest inland port with hundreds of ships delivering millions of tons of goods.
Lake of the Woods is the sixth-largest freshwater lake located at least partially in the United States. Only the five Great Lakes are larger. The lake also has a significant amount of area in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba. The lake is famous for its walleye and attracts many fishermen.
