Where is Indonesia located on a world map?

Indonesia is an archipelago located in the eastern hemisphere between Southeast Asia and Australia. The country shares borders with Papua New Guinea, East Timor and Malaysia. Other neighboring landmasses include Singapore, the Indian territories of Andaman and the Nicobar Islands, and the Philippines.

Over 17,500 islands comprise the nation of Indonesia, the largest of which are Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi and Papua. The island nation is surrounded by several bodies of water, including the Java, South China, Celebes, Flores, Banda, Bali, Timor and Arafura Seas. Situated along the Equator, the archipelago also forms part of the division between the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
