Where is Nicaragua located on a world map?

Nicaragua is located in Central America and borders Costa Rica to its north and Honduras to its south. The country has two coastlines with the Caribbean Sea on its east side and the Pacific Ocean on its west side.

The country has three main regions: the Caribbean lowlands in the east, the Pacific lowlands in the west and the central highlands. Nicaragua has 19 active volcanoes, most of which run in a chain along the country's western side. Lake Nicaragua, located in the country's south-west region, contains over 300 small islands known as the Granada Islets. Nicaragua also owns the Corn Islands: two large islands located east of the country's Caribbean coast.
