Bill Moggridge, a man from Britain, was the inventor of the first laptop computer. He created the first computer in 1979, which was called the Grid Compass clamshell computer.
There were a number of computers created in the late 1970s, with Moggridge claiming the spot as the first laptop computer because of his design. He incorporated the traditional folding design. This allowed all the aspects of the computer to fit into a design that was portable. He also encased the design in magnesium for extra protection. This led organizations like NASA and the United States military to use it. Moggridge sold the laptop computer when it was officially released in 1982 for $8,150.
