Who invented the trumpet?

The initial inventor of the trumpet is unknown, but evidence shows that horns have been around and in use since at least the time of the Ancient Egyptians. The more modern version with the bent tubes and bell that allows the sound to be projected was developed in the 1400s.
The first trumpets were often made from animal horns or shells and used for military purposes almost exclusively. As the centuries went by, it became an instrument that showed pomp and pageantry. The nobility wanted trumpets to play when they arrived at a location or came into a gathering of people. They were eventually introduced into opera orchestras in the 1600s.
