The Irish blessing that starts with “May the Road†is talking about one’s journey and how God provides blessings for that journey. It is a traditional Gaelic blessing called “May the Road Rise Up to Meet You.â€
This blessing gives hope for a journey to be an easy one without obstacles, such as high mountains or deep valleys. It mentions three parts of nature, including rain, wind and sun, hoping that God uses these elements for sunshine and heat, healthy fields and wind at the person’s back. It is not uncommon for Celtic literature to use images of nature for such blessings.
