What is an Irish wolfhound and Great Dane mix?
By Forinfos - 03/05/2026 - 0 comments
A dog bred by crossing an Irish Wolfhound and a Great Dane is a hybrid or designer dog. As of Aug. 2014, the cross does not have a popularly accepted name and is not recognized by the Designer Dog Kennel Club or the American Canine Hybrid Club.
Designer dogs result from crossing two pure breeds in an attempt to produce dogs with desirable characteristics from both. Designer dogs of the same type can be bred to one another or back to either of the parent breeds as a breeder continues to select for desired traits, but the resulting puppies will not have any ancestry outside the two parent breeds.
