What is a Great Dane and Husky mix?

A dog bred by crossing a purebred Great Dane with a purebred Siberian Husky is a hybrid or designer dog. As of July 2014, no popularly accepted name for the cross exists.

Breeders create hybrid dogs by crossing purebred parents from two different breeds in hopes of getting puppies with desirable characteristics from both breeds. Hybrids of the same type can be bred to each other or back to either of the parent breeds as a breeder continues selecting for desirable traits. Dogs of unknown ancestry that share traits with one or more pure breeds are called mixed breeds. Only DNA testing can show whether a mixed-breed dog actually shares common genetic ancestry with a given pure breed.
