Was Jesus a carpenter?

According to the Bible, Jesus was a carpenter, and it is believed that he learned his trade from his father, Joseph. In the first century, it was quite common for men to carry on the family business. Thus, many conclude that Jesus followed Joseph's footsteps for the sake of tradition.

Verses that refer to Jesus as a carpenter or carpenter's son include Mark 6:3 and Luke 2:49. Additional verses, such as John 2:19, hint at Jesus being a builder, as he states his ability to raise a temple. While little is known about the details of his occupation, it is assumed that most of Jesus' work was completed in Nazareth.
