John Saul's first novel, "Suffer the Children," was published in 1977 by Dell Publishing. He is often recognized for his 1979 book "Cry for the Strangers," which was made into a 1982 television movie starring Patrick Duffy, Cindy Pickett and Lawrence Pressman.
