What is Kenya's currency?

As of 2014, the currency used in Kenya is the Kenyan shilling. One shilling is divisible into 100 cents, and Kenyan shillings are available as both coins and banknotes.
The Kenyan shilling was first introduced in 1966. It replaced the currency previously used by Kenya, the East African shilling. When the currency was first issued, coins in denominations of 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents were released. These coins have featured a number of notable Kenyans over the years, including Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel arap Moi.
When banknotes were first issued, they were released in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 shillings. They featured an image of Kenya's first prime minister, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta,
