What does a killer whale eat?
By Forinfos - 28/02/2025 - 0 comments
Killer whales eat a wide range of large animals, including seals, sea lions, smaller whales, bony fish, sharks, cephalopods, sea turtles and otters. They are the apex predators of the oceans, swallowing smaller prey whole and tearing larger prey apart while facing no natural predators of their own.
Killer whales are pack hunters with complex societies and hunting strategies. They swim in coordinated teams while hunting prey, with individuals teaching younger pod members as they go. They live in pods of up to 50 individuals, of which an average 20 percent are mature males, 20 percent are calves, and 60 percent are females and immature males. Most of the members of a pod are related to one another.
