What kind of fish is swai?

The iridescent shark is a member of the family Pangasiidae, or shark catfishes, and is also known as the swai. It lives in Southeast Asian rivers and can reach a length of 4 feet and weigh nearly 100 pounds. Adults are gray and lack the iridescence found in juveniles.

Iridescent sharks are popular aquarium fish, although Aquarium Life recommends not to include them due to their need for space and preference for schooling. The poor eyesight of the fish often induces a fight-or-flight response that can cause the iridescent shark to charge into the surroundings of its tank, injuring itself.
