The Sam Goody chain of music and entertainment stores first opened in New York, New York, in 1956. Trans World Entertainment acquired the chain in 2006. In 2008, after facing much financial turmoil, many of the Sam Goody locations closed or became f.y.e. stores, another music and entertainment chain owned by Trans World Entertainment. Both stores carry a large selection of current and classic music in an extensive array of genres and styles.
