There are several mammals that are said to fly, including the flying squirrel and the gliding possum, but these mammals merely glide. In most languages, the word bat translates to the word "mouse." The French word for bat is "chauve souris," which means "bald mouse," and the Spanish word for bat is "saguzahar," which means "old mouse."
