What kind of venting is needed to install a Maytag dryer?

For venting, Maytag dryers require a 4-inch heavy-metal exhaust vent and clamps. All dryer vents must be exhausted outdoors to reduce the risk of fire.
The two options for a metal dryer vent are a flexible metal vent or a rigid vent. Metal vents should not be connected with screws that pierce the vent and extend into the interior of the duct where they may catch lint. The homeowner should use exhaust clamps instead. If installing the vent to an existing vent system, first clean all lint from the entire length of the system, and replace all pre-existing plastic or foil vents with metal vents.
