When was King Menes born?

King Menes was probably born at the end of the fourth millennium B.C., even though the exact date is not known. There have been numerous debates among historians regarding Menes' reign, with modern consensus placing it somewhere between 3100 and 3050 B.C.

Various historians place the reign of Menes anywhere between the fifth and third millennium B.C. The ancient historian Manetho mentions that the king reigned for 62 years over the unified Egypt before being killed by a hippopotamus. King Menes is credited with the unification of the Upper and Lower Egypt through a series of administrative and military actions.
