What is Lake Chapala real estate?

Lake Chapala is located between two states in Western Mexico, Michoacan and Jalisco. Many large, gated homes surrounded by trees and other foliage sit on Lake Chapala. Some of these homes are only visible from the water.

Property owners typically accept payment in United States dollars when selling or renting homes. Called the "Little Switzerland of Mexico," because of its beauty and peaceful atmosphere, Lake Chapala is the largest freshwater lake in the country. The lake features two small islands, Isla de los Alcacranes and Isla Mezcala. Lake Chapala real estate is popular with people from the United States and Canada looking to retire in a warmer climate.
