Most Iranian films are in Persian or Farsi, which is an endoynm of the Persian language. Persian is the official language of Iran. Other languages spoken in Iran include Azerbaijani, Luri, Kurdish and Arabic.
Notable Iranian films that feature languages other than Persian are Bahman Ghobadi's "A Time for Drunken Horses" and Majid Majidi's "Baran." The 2000 war drama "A Time for Drunken Horses" features Kurdish, and the 2001 romantic drama "Baran" features Azerbaijani. "A Time for Drunken Horses" was the first Kurdish-language feature length film to achieve international success. Bahman Ghobadi won the Golden Camera award and the FIPRESCI Prize for the film at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.
