How large is a Brooks king snake?
By Forinfos - 25/12/2025 - 0 comments
The Brooks king snake grows to an average length of 4 to 6 feet. The males are typically larger than the females. While the species is non-venomous, its bite is significant medically.
At the time of hatching, the Brooks king snake, also known as the South Florida king snake, is only about 8 to 12 inches long. A varied diet of rodents, lizards and other snakes allows it to grow quickly to the size needed to take on larger prey, including rattlesnakes and copperheads. The Brooks king snake's size deters most predators. When threatened, the snake hisses and shakes its tail to warn off any danger before it resorts to biting.
