The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean. The body of water encompasses roughly 59 million square miles, accounting for more than half of the Earth's water. All of the planet's six continents could easily fit into the Pacific Ocean.
The ocean's boundaries extend from the Arctic Ocean in the north to Antarctica in the south, and the ocean extends eastward to the Americas and westward to Australia and Asia. The equator subdivides the ocean into the North Pacific and South Pacific. Within the Mariana Trench of the western North Pacific is the deepest point in the world, with a depth of more than 35,000 feet.
