Dry-cleaning solvents and dry spotters work well to lift makeup stains from cotton, linen, acrylic fabrics and polyester. Dry spotters can be made at home by combining 1 part coconut oil and 8 parts dry-cleaning solvent.

First blot the affected area to prevent the stain spreading. Flush the garment with dry-cleaning solvent. Next, apply the dry spotter solution directly to the stain, then wet a towel with the dry spotter solution, and place it directly on top of the affected area. Tamp or lightly brush the covered stain with a soft-bristled brush, and alternate with soaking until the stain has completely lifted. Flush the fabric again with dry-cleaning solvent, and let dry. Wash the garment as soon as possible.
