Whitening yellowing clothes and garments is completely possible. To do so, you need a tub or sink, warm water, bleach, laundry detergent and a washer and dryer. It will take approximately 25 hours to whiten one load of yellowing clothes and laundry.
Mix a water and bleach solution
In a tub or large sink, mix a solution of warm water and oxygen-based bleach. Use approximately 1/4 cup of bleach for every gallon of water.
Submerge yellowing laundry in the water and bleach solution
Completely submerge your yellowing clothes and laundry in the tub or sink of water and bleach. It is crucial to ensure that all items are completely submerged to achieve the best results from this process. Leave the garments to soak in the water and bleach for 24 hours.
Place the wet clothes in your washing machine
After soaking for 24 hours, place the laundry in your regular washing machine. Wash as normal. During the rinse cycle, add 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar to the water.
Dry the clothes
If possible, air dry your laundry on a line by sunlight. This will help whiten it. If this is not possible, dry your laundry as you normally would.
