What are the layers of the sun?

The seven layers of the sun are the core, the radiative zone, the convection zone, the photosphere, the chromosphere, the transition region and the corona. The first three layers comprise the inner layers, and the last four are the outer layers.

Energy forms in the sun's core and is released through nuclear fusion. The core's temperature is 28 million degrees Fahrenheit. Energy moves through the radiative zone and the convection zone to the outer layers of the sun. The outer layers are the parts that humans can see, except for the corona, which can only be seen with the naked eye during a solar eclipse.
