What is the legal age for babysitting in Ohio?

The Erie County Job and Family Services site states that there is no law that specifies a legal age for babysitting in Ohio. According to the United States Department of Labor, 14 is the minimum age for most non-agricultural jobs, including babysitting in a private residence.
Make sure that children who are left alone or in charge of others can reach a parent or another responsible adult in case of an emergency. If an incident occurs that requires the notification of the police or Children Services when a child is left in charge, each department will use their own discretion to decide whether to charge the parents criminally and how to treat the matter based on the situation and circumstances.
