What is lemon balm?

Lemon balm is an herb from the mint family that is considered to have calming properties. It is used to promote relaxation, relieve stress, aid sleep, ease pain and cure cold sores. Lemon balm comes in many forms including oils, teas, topical creams and capsules.

The beneficial nutrients are found in the leaves of the plant, which are sometimes dried and sold in bulk. Lemon balm was used as far back as the Middle Ages to help heal wounds and was added to wine for consumption. It is grown all over the world and used in many products aside from medicine such as cosmetics and furniture polish.
