An average entry-level salary for embalmers is $33,000 per year. Someone who wishes to become an embalmer needs to attend a mortuary school. Each state has different requirements for embalmers, but most require at least an associate degree in funeral service, an apprenticeship in embalming and the state's required exams, certificates and licenses.
