What does the Leonidas rose look like?

The Leonidas rose variety is most famous for its cinnamon-brown petals. It also has a cream "reverse," or inside petal color, that contrasts with the earthy color of the rest of the petal.

The Leonidas rose was first cultivated in 1995 in France and is popular for the rich brown and cream colors of its petals. However, this hybrid also routinely produces orange blooms instead of brown, depending on the temperatures and other growth factors involved. For this reason, and to produce a more vibrant color, some gardeners encourage keeping Leonidas roses in a greenhouse rather than outside. The Leonidas rose has about 25 to 30 petals on each flower and is a relatively large rose with blooms of 4 to 5 inches.
