What are leveling books?

Leveling books is a collection of books arranged from easy-to-read books for beginners to more complex books for advanced readers. Teachers use leveling books to assess students' reading progress.

The books in each level are in multiple copies, with the collection placed at a central place in most schools. Students progress from one level to another, with a grade having more than one level. Leveling books allow readers to increase their reading skills through the different text available in a leveling book collection. Having an organized set of books makes it easier to select a book for a child based on his ability to read.
