What is the life span of the ghost crab?
By Forinfos - 28/02/2026 - 0 comments
The average life span of a ghost crab is three years. Ghost crabs hatch from eggs and go through six distinctive stages before reaching full maturity. The adult ghost crab is straw colored or grayish white, and it has large club-shaped eyestalks and long walking legs.
Ghost crabs live on the beaches and estuaries of tropical and subtropical areas. They are nocturnal creatures that burrow in the sand until sunset. The ghost crab's name is derived from its ability to slightly change its coloring to match the sand around it. Ghost crabs eat bean clams, mole crabs and the eggs and hatchlings of loggerhead turtles.
