What is the lifespan of a kangaroo rat?

According to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, the lifespan of a wild kangaroo rat is between two and five years. Kangaroo rats are small, bipedal rodents with long tails and large feet that they use to hop like kangaroos.

Natives of western North America, kangaroo rats live in arid or semi-arid conditions. As burrowing animals, they prefer softer varieties of soil. Kangaroo rat burrows are multi-chambered and feature specific areas for food storage, sleeping and living. The cheek pouches of a kangaroo rat are used for storing food. Kangaroo rats prefer to eat seeds, although vegetation and insects are also included in their diet.
