What is a lipstick plant?

Some species of plants from the Aeschynanthus genus are known as lipstick plants because they produce red blossoms that resemble lipstick. These tropical houseplants have tapered green leaves and radiant flower clusters.
Lipstick plants are easy to grow. They require modest watering, as saturating the roots can cause fungal growth and other problems. Too much or too little sunlight is detrimental to lipstick plants, so they should be given partial sun and shade. Lipstick plants were originally tropical plants, so they grow best in humid areas. They thrive when the air and soil temperature is at least 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
