Where is Lithuania?

Lithuania is situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea in Northern Europe. The country is bordered by Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east, Poland to the south and Russia to the southwest.

Lithuania encompasses more than 65,000 square miles, with plains covering roughly 75 percent of the territory. The country is geographically divided into 10 counties, with its largest city, Vilnius, serving as the capital. Lithuania is one of three Baltic States that gained independence from the Russian Empire as a result of World War I. Lithuania has been a NATO and European Union member since 2004.
