Locking a Whirlpool 465 oven door involves activating the automatic oven cleaning function for the self-clean cycle that lasts between two to four hours, depending on the particular model. The door remains locked during the entire cleaning process.

The first step is to close the oven door completely in order to engage the lock. Next, turn the temperature knob clockwise to coincide with the Clean setting. Press the Auto Clean button, and then push the Start button.

The door unlocks automatically after the cleaning process is finished and the temperature inside the oven falls below 500 degrees Fahrenheit. If the cycle is interrupted during the process, the door remains locked for safety purposes.
