Deer meat can be frozen for 6 to 9 months in the freezer. Proper packaging is crucial in extending the shelf life of deer meat.
Deer meat, or venison as it is also known, should be frozen at temperatures of 0 degrees Fahrenheit for best results. Venison should be frozen within 3 to 5 days of refrigeration.
If the meat will be frozen for long periods of time it should be wrapped in heavy-duty plastic or aluminum wrap. If meat is not stored correctly it can develop freezer burn.
Uncooked deer meat can be safely stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days.
