Uncomplicated cataract surgery should only last approximately 10 minutes, according to All About Vision. After cataract surgery, patients may stay in a recovery room for 30 minutes to an hour before they can go home.
As people grow older they may develop cataracts in their eyes, according to All About Vision. These cataracts can be removed through a simple surgery in an outpatient eye surgical clinic. Typically, patients leave the surgery center and sleep for several hours at home. Then, they must simply wear protective eye gear at night for a few days until their eyes heal. After a few days, their eyes are completely healed.
