How long does it take to complete law school?

It takes between seven and 10 years to complete law school. The exact amount of time required depends on the type of law degree a person wishes to obtain.
Most law schools require students to earn bachelor's degrees prior to enrollment. Obtaining a bachelor's degree is generally a four-year process, and then students can begin earning J.D. (Juris Doctor) law degrees. Earning a J.D. degree usually takes three years, but students must pass state bar exams in addition to all J.D. coursework before they can practice law. Master's-level degrees require a further year of classes, and doctorate degree candidates must undertake a further year of courses beyond that as well as write dissertations.
