How long do cut roses live?

Cut roses live between four and 12 days. The exact duration is based upon a number of factors, including: rose type, growing method, duration of transit from garden to vase and the location where its displayed.

While impossible to give an exact vase life for cut roses, one can extend its life expectancy by sanitizing the flower vase and regularly changing vase water. The species of rose determines its vase life. Red Intuition, Black Magic, Elizabeth Taylor, Crystalline and St. Patrick rose varieties are known to have long vase lives, if proper care is taken. Display cut roses in shaded areas. Avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.
