How long do Rottweilers live?
By Forinfos - 10/03/2025 - 0 comments
The average life expectancy of a Rottweiler is 9.4 years with a typical range of eight to 10 years. Females tend to live longer than males, especially if they are spayed after reaching the age of 6.
Rottweilers are a large breed of dog seldom weighing less than 80 pounds. Among purebred dogs, size is inversely related to longevity; on average, individuals from small-sized breeds tend to outlive individuals from large-sized breeds. The reason for this is not yet known but is suspected to be due to underlying genetic factors. Rottweilers are prone to becoming obese if overfed or not given enough exercise, and this can contribute to heart disease, breathing problems, diabetes and overheating.
