What do Rottweilers eat?

Rottweilers are carnivores, which means they primarily eat meat. Because meat is expensive and often impractical to feed a dog, most Rottweilers eat normal dog food. They should, however, eat dog food that lists the first ingredient as meat or meat meal.

Most commercial dog foods are made primarily of grains, so Rottweiler owners should choose food carefully. This large breed of working dog needs plenty of dietary protein. They should eat dog food that contains at least 22 percent protein. Rottweiler puppies should eat dog food that contains at least 24 percent protein. Rottweilers should never eat dog food that contains soy, wheat, corn or produced meals.
