WebMD states that guttate psoriasis can last from a little as a few weeks to several months. Many cases of guttate psoriasis result in chronic cases of other forms of psoriasis. Guttate psoriasis may develop once and never return, though.
According to WebMD, medical professionals suspect streptococcal infections to trigger guttate psoriasis. The pink lesions tend to appear two to three weeks after an infection. Guttate psoriasis usually goes away without treatment, but sufferers can use phototherapy, topical steroids or antibiotics for strep throat to make the infection quickly resolve. Mild cases can be resolved with emollients that protect the skin until the infection clears.
