How long do hard-boiled eggs cook for?

Hard-boiled eggs take approximately 20 minutes to cook. It is not advisable to boil eggs in a microwave, but if the eggs are covered completely with water, it is possible to do so.

To cook an ideal hard-boiled egg, place the eggs in a pot and cover them with cold water. Cook the eggs over high heat until the water reaches a full boil. Then cover the pot, remove the eggs from the heat and set a timer for 15 minutes. When the timer goes off, carefully pour out the hot water. Cool the eggs by setting the pot in a sink and running cold water over them for one to two minutes.
