How long do hedgehogs live?

Hedgehogs live an average of about seven years. These mammals have pointy spines over most of their body that are used to help keep them alive and safe from predators in the wild.

Hedgehogs usually hunt for food during the night and sleep during the day. They sleep with their bodies curved in a way that allows them to protect the parts of their body that do not have spines, such as their stomach, legs and face. Hedgehogs largely depend on their ears and nose to examine their environment, as they have poor eyesight. While these mammals are quite capable of swimming and climbing, they are most commonly seen on the ground.
