Do hedgehogs have fleas?
By Forinfos - 23/06/2025 - 0 comments
The majority of hedgehogs, whether they are pets or live in the wild, do not have fleas. If a hedgehog does happen to have fleas, they are fleas specific to hedgehogs that do not use any other host.
It is possible for a pet hedgehog to catch fleas from other pets, such as dogs or cats, but they do not stay long, as they are the wrong type of flea. If a hedgehog does have fleas or mites, it is usually because it is sick and unable to care for itself properly. People should never use a flea treatment on a hedgehog. If infested, the safest treatment is a pyrethrum-based powder.
