According to SharkSider.com, the lifespan of the mako shark ranges from 28 to 35 years in the wild. Poachers and fishermen pose the biggest threats to the species. Mako sharks are found throughout the world in offshore temperate to tropical waters of various depths.
The fastest of all shark species, mako sharks are able to chase prey at up to 60 mph. Mako sharks use their long, slender teeth to attack bonito, mackerel, swordfish and tuna. The sleek predators also have the ability to leap up to 20 feet out of the water, though they pose little threat to humans.
