Woodchucks tend to live up to four or five years, according to the Cornell Cooperative Extension. Woodchucks do have some predators they must look out for, such as hawks, dogs, owls, foxes, bobcats and humans.
The Cornell Cooperative Extension also recommends that people who are having issues with woodchucks should check with local law enforcement to find out how to handle nuisance animals. The extension service suggests using bobcat urine as a repellent to prevent woodchuck damage. It is best to hire a wildlife control expert to trap woodchucks for relocation. In many jurisdictions, a hunting license must be obtained in order to hunt woodchucks.
