An Olympic-size swimming pool is 50 meters long. The width is 25 meters. The depth is at least 2 meters, but 3 meters is recommended. An Olympic pool is divided into 10 lanes for the Olympics and eight lanes for the World Swimming Championships.
Each lane in an Olympic pool is 2.5 meters wide, and lane ropes should cover the full length of each lane. The lanes are numbered zero to nine, and each is assigned green, blue or yellow ropes. Flush walls are equipped at both ends, and floats are placed 5 meters from each end of the pool.
