How long should a letter of interest be?

A letter of interest to a prospective employer should not exceed one single typed page. The letter of interest should consist of three or four paragraphs, a signature line at the bottom and a reference to any enclosures, such as a resume or work sample.

A letter of interest should be addressed to a specific hiring manager or department supervisor and contain brief and concise wording to avoid exceeding one single page. The letter should include specific examples of the candidate's skills, experience and job-related accomplishments, as well as an explanation of why the candidate seeks to work for the company.
